one year anniversary

Yesterday was our one year anniversary. I can't believe that we have been married for a year! I love it though, I love being married and I love having Nick as my husband.
So we celebrated this weekend and it was wonderful! I started my weekend off by taking Friday off. I met Nick for lunch, then went and got my hair cut by the fabulous Meagan Marz (best hair cut ever!) and then I went and laid out at my pool with Lolly! It was a great day and much needed! Nick and I also went down Los Hermanos in Lindon for dinner, it is one of my favorite mexican restaurants! Saturday we slept in and went to our new little home to get some paperwork and I got to see my little kitty cat, I can't wait to have her for my own! Then we went up to the zoo, it was so fun! Even though it rained on us towards the end, it was still so fun to walk around and see all the animals and see the newest addition, DINOSAURS! They were really neat! We decided to stay the night in a hotel in Salt Lake, we picked the Little America Hotel, it was amazing! Such a nice place for a great price! We went to the pool and laid out for a bit, then we got ready to go to dinner at The Steakhouse that was at the hotel, it was nice and sooo yummy! Then it was time for our presents, Nick got his present a week early cause he wanted a new phone, so I got him a Droid X. Nick spoiled me and got me, Snow White, Alice in Wonderland combo pack, a Downeast gift card, AND the complete series of I Love Lucy!! I was SO excited! I can't wait to start watching them! Then Sunday came, the day of our one year! We checked out of the hotel and went to a place called Finns for breakfast, it's located in Sugarhouse and it's a cute little cafe, it had delicious food and it was a fun place to go! Then our weekend ended by eating the top tier of our cake and watching our wedding video, it was perfect!
I am so happy to have Nick in my life and it was so fun celebrating our Anniversary. I have never been happier and I can't wait to see what eternity brings us! I love you Nick!

There's an app for that.

Just testing out my blogger app for my phone! :)
I swear there is an app for everything, I think of something and go to the market on my phone and lo and behold there is an app for it! These smart phones are quite awesome, makes work a little less boring when there is down time! Like right now.... ;)

we're moving on up!

Nick and I are moving on up in life, we're moving in about a week into... drum roll please! A double-wide trailer. Yup, yup! We sure are, and we are so excited. My Aunt rents out the trailer she lives next to so we are going to be living there for the next 6 months! This trailer, or as my Aunt calls it "a manufactured home" is quite nice! 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a nice little yard, porch and all for a great price that we just couldn't pass up. I have a cousin living there now, and she is moving up to Idaho to help with her in-laws cupcake store they have. She has 2 dogs and a cat, she can't take the cat with her cause everyone is allergic, soooo she gave us the cat! And we are so excited to finally have a pet! So meet the newest member of the Barfi family, Calliope:
Not the greatest picture but I am sure there will be more to come! I can't wait to move and go home to my cute kitty! :)
So, next Sunday is our one year anniversary! Time flies, it's crazy. And I kept having a hard time thinking of what to get Nick for it, he's not the greatest at giving me hints as to what he wants, and he always tells me he doesn't want anything. So I'm always stumped on presents for him. But he actually told me a few things he wanted! So on Saturday we moved on up and upgraded our phones! We both now have these beauties:
We have what's called the Droid X. For the longest time Nick did not want to upgrade our phones, and now he is addicted to his phone. And I love mine too, they are great phones and our wonderful friend Todd was able to help us out with them.
I can't believe it's our one year and I can't wait to have Friday off and celebrate and pull out our top tier of our cake! And hopefully the weather warms up so we can have a nice weekend and go to the zoo!
Everything else is going just great for us, we are just working away and living life. Work is going well for the both of us, and I'm glad we both have jobs that we love. Nick has been starting to pack up all our stuff so we can just have a quick and easy move. I can't wait to move and be in our new place, it's going to be so nice not worrying about the people above us or below us. And I already know that we have one good neighbor ;) Well, that will wrap it up for tonight, thanks for reading!

I'm on my way

No body likes to stand on these right? Right. But lately it's been a daily occurrence for me to stand on one. About a month or two ago I started to notice this unwanted "chub" on my stomach. I finally got to the point where I knew it was going to get worse if I didn't do something about it. So, I made up my mind and I decided I needed to loose weight. I have joined this website called myfitnesspal.com. It is an awesome website, it helps you design your own plan with how you want to loose weight, tracks your calories, and your exercise. It is wonderful.
My plan is to loose 1 pound a week. When I started last week (4/11/2011) my weight was 148.8, as of today it is now 147.2. My ideal weight is 130, but around 135 will be just fine with me, that is about what I weighed when Nick and I were first married and engaged.
Changing my diet and exercising more has made a huge difference. And I know if I keep on the same track I can reach my goal. I have even cut back on my diet coke, now that's dedication right there ;)

patience is a virtue

I know everyone hates the saying "patience is a virtue" but throughout our first year of marriage, I would say Nick and I have learned to have a great deal of patience. When we were first married I was unemployed, and let's admit it, job hunting is not fun anymore. So I finally ended up getting a job at a middle school working part time, 17 hours a week. Not bad, it was a job, so I took it. I worked there and after a month or so it just wasn't the greatest thing ever. I wanted to be doing something I loved, so back to the hunt. I found a job at a bakery, my DREAM!! So I said good bye to the school and worked at Granite Bakery. Everything started out good, I started to get used to being at work a 6 a.m. but things shifted very quickly there. It became the most stressful job I have ever had, I thought baking and decorating was supposed to be fun? Well, there it's not. There were days I would go lock myself in the bathroom and cry. The owner had made it clear that she didn't like me all that much, and that I wasn't doing anything right. I would try to ask her what she wanted done and she would tell me to figure it out on my own. So I ended up quitting, it wasn't worth it to me anymore. And it wasn't fair to Nick, I was so down on myself and I didn't want him to see me like that anymore. So once again, on the hunt for jobs. But I got very lucky and was able to get a job quick, within a week I was working at Cafe Zupas. They were about to open a new location at Valley Fair, so I jumped on it and applied and got hired. To be honest I wasn't too excited to work there at first, but it was job and money. And it honestly turned out to be a great job, my manager was great and worked with my schedule and everything. It was perfect. Towards the end I was thinking I needed to get another job so I could get more money and save. I got a job at a credit union, and I was planning on working both jobs. I started at the credit union, training was great and I made some new friends. But once I got to my branch... that was a WHOLE different story. I had no help or support at all. My trainers were always off in la la land, and I felt very pressured. I didn't want to mess up there, I mean hello! I'm dealing with millions of dollars here! Help me out people! After the first week there, I was done, yup. Done. I still had my job at Zupas so it was no loss to me. So I continued working at Zupas while casually looking for other jobs. I wasn't looking as much as I was before cause I knew I had a good job. But one day, my manager had sent me on an errand to Coca Cola in Draper. And later that week I thought I'd check out their website. So I did and they were hiring in their money room, but the schedule was a night time shift from 3-9. Nick wasn't so sure about it at first, because our schedules would be so different. But we talked about it and agreed that I should just apply, it wouldn't hurt. I got a call a couple of days later and was able to interview on my day off. The lady that interviewed me didn't hire me on the spot, but sent me out for a drug test. I called Nick when I left Coke and told them that I was being sent for a drug test. He was so excited, he pretty much though I had been hired. But I didn't want to get my hopes up. About 3 days later I got a call back, and they wanted to hire me! I was thrilled! I was so exited to tell people that I work for COKE!! How cool is that?! As excited as I was to work for Coke, it was hard for me to tell Zupas that I was leaving. But I left on good terms and have started my new adventure at Coke. I absolutely LOVE  it! It is such a great job, I love my co workers, what I do, and everything about Coke.
So throughout all the job hopping in the past year, I think I have found where I am supposed to be. And I have learned to be VERY patient. I waited and waited to find a good job, and I have it. It took me a while to get there, but I learned a lot on the way. And I'm so glad that Nick was there to help me the whole way, he is always there for me and I wouldn't have been able to get through this without him. And I'm sure he is just as happy as I am that I am working at Coke, that boy's blood is Diet Coke ;)
Well folks, thanks for reading!

Day 29 & 30

Day 29: Something you could never get tired of doing.

Going on drives with my hubby. I love love love going on drives with him. I love just being able to talk to him, jam out to music, sing our little hearts out, and just have fun. I love how we don't have a destination, we just drive. Sunday we ended up in Park City. Yes kinda far, but fun. And Park City is so pretty, I love going up there. So definitely going on drives with the hubby wins.

Day 30: A photograph of yourself today + three good things that have happened in the last 30 days

Well, I finally finished my 30 day challenge! Yes... it took me a little bit more than 30 days, but I did it! And I loved doing the blog challenge... now to keep on blogging often... :)This isn't a picture of me today, but it's the most recent (I didn't really want to take a picture of myself) But 3 good things that happened to me in the past 30 days. 1. I GOT A NEW JOB! 2. NICK GOT A NEW JOB! 3. I am starting to eat healthier, watch my calories, and I'm going to loose this "1 year of marriage weight" I'm sick of this "chub" that I have, so I'm going to loose it!
Well that's it for my 30 day challenge, hoped you enjoyed it as much as I did!

Day 28

Your favorite movie.

This is a hard one, I will have a favorite movie for a week then move on to another movie, etc. So as of right now my favorite movies are:

The Social Network

Despicable Me

Tangled

I think those are the favorites right now, of course there are all time favorites like, Wizard of Oz, Harry Potter movies, 500 Days of Summer, First Wives Club, Hook, any classic Disney movie, etc. I just love movies, so it's hard to pick just one!
